Regina, October 10, 2025 – In May, the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) announced that Regina had been selected to host the 9th edition of the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC) in 2028. For over a year, the bid committee has worked closely with the Government of Saskatchewan and the City of Regina to secure significant funding to ensure the success of the upcoming JeuxFC.
Last month, the Government of Saskatchewan’s Cabinet confirmed $200,000 in funding for the JeuxFC. “The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to support the 2028 Francophone Youth Games being hosted in the city of Regina,” Minister Responsible for Tourism Saskatchewan and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs Alana Ross said. “This event provides an exciting opportunity to celebrate Francophone culture and identity, bringing young people together from across the country. It will also be a chance to highlight Regina’s outstanding hosting capabilities and showcase the many vibrant contributions of Francophones to our province and our nation.”
At the end of July, Regina’s City Council Executive Committee approved $100,000 in funding, along with $50,000 of in-kind services for the JeuxFC. « We can’t wait to welcome the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne to Regina in 2028 and showcase our hospitality, diversity and energy on a national stage,” says Mayor Chad Bachynski. “This celebration of culture and sport is a testament to the vibrancy of our francophone community and the spirit of unity that defines our city. We look forward to creating unforgettable memories together and inspiring the next generation of leaders, artists and athletes. »
