As a volunteer, your role is most important!
You will become proud ambassadors of the Canadian Francophone Games.
Your commitment, your contribution and your loyalty are all key components in ensuring the success of the event.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Resident of Canada and be 14 years of age or older*.
  • Able to have a conversation in French, as the JeuxFC are conducted exclusively in French.
  • Be able to complete a minimum of two (2) 5-hour shifts.
  • Be able to attend one or two training sessions, depending on the position.

 

*The minimum age to volunteer at the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne is 14 years old (as of the start date). For minors, parental or legal guardian consent is required. Some positions require that minor volunteers be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout their participation.

    – Generally, the days are divided into three shifts:
    • morning (approx. 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
    • afternoon (approx. 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
    • evening (approx. 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

Le Village des Jeux, lieu de rassemblements et d’animation pour tous·tes les participant·es, bénévoles et visiteur·euses, sera situé à l’extérieur dans le stationnement du Collège Montmorency et sera ouvert tout au long de l’événement.

Games Volunteers

During the JeuxFC, volunteers will be active at competition, accommodation, and cultural event venues, performing operational tasks under the supervision of the Lead Volunteers in charge of their area.

Lead Volunteers

During the JeuxFC, all competition, accommodation, and socio-cultural programming venues will be managed by a team of Lead Volunteers. This team is composed of area managers and overseen by a site director.

These volunteers will receive training throughout the year and will be responsible for managing activities at their assigned venue, in collaboration with the Organizing Committee.

Volunteer Rights

JeuxFC volunteers serve as ambassadors for the region to visitors. They help showcase the pride and passion of an entire community. Through their dedication, they embody the organization’s values and are essential to the event’s success.

  • Be part of a group of enthusiastic people and contribute to the event’s success.
  • Be assigned tasks that they can perform satisfactorily.
  • Receive cooperation from other volunteers and
  • Organizing Committee staff.
  • Receive all relevant information and be properly trained.
  • To be heard, recognized, and treated with respect.
  • To work in a safe environment.
  • To have access to an effective, fair, and confidential complaint resolution process.
Accreditation and Uniform
  • Every volunteer officially registered for the Canadian Francophone Games will receive an accreditation card and a uniform (identification garment) upon presentation of two valid forms of identification.
  • The accreditation card and uniform must be worn at all times during shifts, over regular clothing, so that they are visible to everyone.
  • The uniform generally consists of a T-shirt and/or jacket in the colours of the Canadian Francophone Games.
  • The accreditation and uniform will be provided to volunteers in a kit a few days before the Games. This kit contains information relevant to volunteers’ participation in the Games. Please be sure to review it.

Frequently Asked Questions

I don’t speak french

There are operation jobs that don’t require you to interact with participants directly. You could also be paired with someone that speaks French.

Yes. You can volunteer one or more days of your time at the Canadian Francophone Games. However, a minimum of two 5-hour shifts is required to ensure the smooth running of this major event.

Anyone aged 14 or older who is interested can become a volunteer. Please note that some positions have a minimum age requirement. This is the case for the courtesy driver position (minimum age 25).

Ideally, yes, but not always. Some positions for disciplines featured at the Games require volunteers to have training, certification, or relevant experience in the field. However, other staff positions do not require any prior knowledge beyond the Games-specific volunteer training.

Volunteers are entitled to one meal for every five (5) consecutive hours worked. Snacks will also be available in the volunteer lounges.

Please note that a criminal background check will be conducted for all employees and volunteers of the Canadian Francophone Games who are 18 years of age or older.

A criminal background check is mandatory for all staff and volunteers of the Canadian Francophone Games who are 18 years of age or older. This process is designed to protect the physical and psychological well-being of participants, most of whom are minors. This check is therefore mandatory for everyone within the organization.

  1. You will be contacted by email or phone by the Organizing Committee to confirm your interest and availability.
  2. A criminal background check will be conducted by the police department:
    • All applications with a positive background check result—that is, the presence of a criminal history incompatible with the Organizing Committee’s criteria—will be handled by the police department;
    • All applications with a negative background check result—meaning no criminal record—will be forwarded to the divisions and sectors selected by the applicant via the database (secure site) to develop a final work schedule.
  3. All individuals who have completed the requested information will receive an invitation to a general training session, which will be followed by training specific to their area of interest.
  4. On the day of training, you must present two forms of photo ID. Your personal information will be verified, and a photo will be taken for your accreditation card (if you have not already done so during your online registration).
  5. Volunteer badges and uniforms will be distributed at the volunteer centre one week before the Games.

Generally speaking, yes. All competition venues are open to the public free of charge. However, some areas are restricted to delegation members only, such as the accommodation venues. When you are assigned to your first shift, you will receive an accreditation pass granting you access to the work areas of the committee to which you have been assigned.

Unless stated otherwise, you have to book and pay for your own transportation and accommodation to and from the Games.
