Ottawa, December 15, 2021 – It is with great emotion that the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) announces the cancellation of the 8th edition of the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC) (Canadian Francophone Games).
This difficult decision is necessary in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all the work that has been done to ensure the event could be held and the solid plans that have been put in place to make it happen, ensuring the health and safety of everyone involved with the JeuxFC is a priority, but also a formidable challenge.
“We share the great disappointment of the Francophone community of Victoria, of British Columbia, of the youth, as well as our members and partners who were committed to making these JeuxFC a can’t-miss event. We would like to thank and acknowledge the tireless work of the Victoria Organizing Committee, which has been on board since 2016,” says FJCF President Marguerite Tölgyesi.
The FJCF would also like to thank all the people, community and financial partners who have believed in this adventure and who have devoted their energy to it over the years.
The FJCF and its primary funder, the Government of Canada, remain committed to this important flagship event for French-speaking youth across the country.
