The Province confirms its contribution to the Victoria 2020 Canadian Francophone Games

VICTORIA, JULY 18, 2019 – After receiving confirmation of the financial support from the Government of British-Columbia, the Victoria 2020 Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) Organizing Committee officially launches the 1-year countdown before the CFGames. The Province will contribute 500,000$, which confirms solid foundations for the project’s implementation. The next edition of the CFGames will take place in Victoria from July 14 to 18, 2020.

These games make a big difference in the lives of French-speaking British Columbians and Canadians by highlighting just how diverse our province and country are.”

Request for proposals 2023 Jeux de la francophonie canadienne

Ottawa, April 8th, 2019 – The Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (French Canadian Youth Federation) is proud to launch its Request for proposals in preparation for the 9th Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (Canadian Francophone Games), which will be held in the summer of 2023.

The Canadian Francophone Games are a national triennial event that fosters connections by presenting a unique program of 13 disciplines combining the arts, cooperation, leadership and sports. They showcase more than a thousand young aged 14 to 18 from across Canada. Hundreds of volunteers work behind the scenes, developing their skills, and creating a festive atmosphere in their host community. The Canadian Francophone Games provide youth with cultural pride, self-confidence and leadership abilities in a friendly, competitive setting.

Cities or organizations that wish to submit their application can obtain a copy of the Bid Guide and related documents by contacting Caroline Bujold, National Coordinator, at 780.463.0888, at caroline@fjcf.ca, or by visiting www.jeuxfc.ca under the “Prochaine édition JeuxFC” heading. (Please note that official documents are only available in French, as les Jeux de la francophonie canadienne is a francophone event, but that an English summary is available). A letter of intent must be submitted before May 30th, 2019, and bids will be accepted until September 30th, 2019. The host committee will be announced early 2020.

LE GOUVERNEMENT DU CANADA ANNONCE UN APPUI FINANCIER DE 1 980 000 $ AUX JEUX DE LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE 2020

Victoria, le 16 novembre 2018La Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) est heureuse d’accueillir un appui financier de 1 980 000 $ de la part du gouvernement du Canada, par l’entremise du ministère du Patrimoine canadien, pour la tenu des prochains Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC). Ce matin, l’honorable Mélanie Joly s’est rendue à Victoria, en Colombie-Britannique où aura lieu la 8e édition des JeuxFC en juillet 2020 pour annoncer cet appui.

Dans un tweet publié par la ministre en juin dernier, elle affirmait ceci : « Après avoir vécu l’expérience mémorable à Moncton-Dieppe en 2017, j’ai aucun doute que les 8e Jeux de la francophonie canadienne seront un grand succès à Victoria! »

THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA ANNOUNCES FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF $1,980,000 FOR THE JEUX DE LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE 2020

Victoria, November 16, 2018 – The Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (French-Canadian Youth Federation – “FJCF”) is thrilled to receive financial support of $1,980,000 from the Government of Canada, through Canadian Heritage, to hold the next edition of the Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (Canadian Francophone Games). This morning, the Honourable Mélanie Joly was in Victoria, British Columbia, to announce this support where the 8th edition of the JeuxFC will be held in July 2020.

In a tweet published by the Minister last June, she claimed: “After the memorable experience I witnessed in Moncton-Dieppe in 2017, I have no doubt that the 8th Jeux de la francophonie canadienne will be a great success in Victoria!

Victoria 2020 Names Casey Edmunds Executive Director

VICTORIA, September 7, 2018 — The Victoria 2020 Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) Organizing Committee has selected Casey Edmunds as their Executive Director. In accepting the position, Edmunds will return to his native British Columbia.

Edmunds will take a leave of absence from his current position as Executive Director of Francophonie jeunesse Alberta (FJA) (Alberta Youth Francophony) in order to plan and organize the Victoria 2020 CFGames.

“We are very happy to welcome Casey as the Executive Director of this great event,” said Marie-Pierre Lavoie, Victoria 2020 Canadian Francophone Games Organizing Committee Board Chair. “Casey’s energy and passion for the Canadian Francophony are strenghts that make him a great choice for this position. His participation in two previous editions of the CFGames definitely helped solidify our selection decision.”

City of Victoria confirms its support for the 2020 Canadian Francophone Games

VICTORIA, Monday August 13th, 2018 – It is with great pride that the Organizing Committee for the 2020 Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) announces that Victoria City Council voted in favor of a financial contribution of $50,000 for the  CFGames.

The eighth edition of the CFGames, featuring more than 1,000 young people from every Canadian province and territory, will take place in venues throughout Esquimalt, Oak Bay, Saanich and Victoria, July 14 to 18, 2020.
