VICTORIA 2020 CANADIAN FRANCOPHONE GAMES POSTPONED

Ottawa, October 8^th, 2020 – The CFGames will once again be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, announces the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (French-Canadian Youth Federation – “FJCF“) and the local Organizing Committee (OC) of the 8^th edition of the Canadian Francophone Games (Victoria 2020 CFGames).

The current context and all the uncertainties that lie ahead, make it difficult to safely organize the CFGames in the summer of 2021, while maintaining the nature of the event appreciated by so many. In order to guarantee the quality of the event for all participants, visitors, collaborators and partners, the FJCF and the OC made the difficult decision to postpone the Games once again. If conditions are right, the CFGames in Victoria would be postponed to summer 2022.

REPORT DES JEUX DE LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE DE 2020 À VICTORIA

Ottawa, le 8 octobre 2020 – La Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) et le Comité d’organisation (CO) de la 8^eédition des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne de 2020 à Victoria (JeuxFC) annoncent un second report des JeuxFC, en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19.

Dans le contexte sanitaire actuel et considérant toutes les incertitudes qui plannent toujours, il est difficile d’imaginer que les JeuxFC pourraient être organisés de façon sécuritaire à l’été 2021, et ce, sans dénaturer l’événement que nous apprécions tant. La FJCF et le CO ont donc pris la difficile décision de reporter de nouveau les JeuxFC, afin de garantir un événement de qualité, à la hauteur des éditions précédentes, pour tou.te.s les participant.e.s, visiteurs.ses, collaborateurs.trices et partenaires. Si les conditions sont propices à le faire, les JeuxFC de Victoria seraient reportés à l’été 2022.

A NEW PARTNERSHIP THAT WILL STRENGTHEN VICTORIA’S FRANCOPHONE COMMUNITY

Victoria, June 9th, 2020 – The boards of Victoria’s Francophone Society, la Société francophone de Victoria (SFV) and the Canadian Francophone Games, les Jeux de la francophonie canadienne Victoria 2020 (JeuxFC Victoria) met this week to discuss the future of both associations. COVID-19, the postponement of the Games to Summer 2021 and the upcoming departure of the current Executive Director of the Society generated serious discussions about how to best proceed. It was at this meeting that board members heard of a new transition plan that would give space for a more cohesive partnership between the Society and the Games.

This partnership would help strengthen Victoria’s francophone community, maintain the Society’s diverse programming all while ensuring the success of the Games next summer, a major project for Victoria’s French-speaking population.

UNE NOUVELLE COLLABORATION QUI RENFORCERA LA FRANCOPHONIE DE VICTORIA

Victoria, le 6 juin 2020 – Les conseils d’administration de la Société francophone de Victoria (SFV) et des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne Victoria 2020 (JeuxFC Victoria) se sont rencontrés cette semaine pour discuter de l’avenir de leur organisme. Les impacts de la crise sanitaire, le report des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne à l’été 2021 et le départ prochain de la direction générale de la SFV ont généré des discussions sérieuses sur la meilleure façon d’aborder tous ces changements.

Durant cette rencontre, les membres des deux conseils d’administration ont reçu un plan de transition qui permettra une collaboration étroite entre les deux organismes qui renforcera la vitalité de la communauté, maintiendra l’intégrité de la SFV et de sa programmation tout en appuyant de façon importante la réalisation du plus gros projet francophone à Victoria, les JeuxFC.

THE CANADIAN FRANCOPHONE GAMES REPRESENTATIVES ANNOUNCE NEW DATES FOR 2021!

Ottawa, April 16^th, 2020 – The Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (French-Canadian Youth Federation – FJCF) and the Local Organizing Committee (OC) of the Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) agreed today on the new dates for 2021, for the 8^th edition of the Games.

The Victoria CFGames will be held July 13^th to 17^th, 2021.

Representatives from both organizations met to discuss the new dates since the postponement. In light of a continued pandemic, and for the safety of the participants, they had no other choice but to postpone the event to next summer.

The postponement impacts of the CFGames are numerous. We would like to thank all the employees and volunteers who have contributed to the planning of the event so far.

We will work with our partners in the coming weeks and months to confirm all the logistical details that will be communicated, in due time.

LA FJCF ET LE CO DES JEUX DE LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE ANNONCENT LES NOUVELLES DATES POUR 2021!

Ottawa, le 16 avril 2020 – La Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) et le Comité d’organisation (CO) des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne (JeuxFC) ont convenu aujourd’hui des nouvelles dates de la 8^e édition des JeuxFC en 2021.

Les JeuxFC de Victoria auront lieu du 13 au 17 juillet 2021.

Les représentant.e.s des deux organismes partenaires du projet se sont réuni.e.s pour prendre la décision à la suite de l’annonce du report. En guise de protection des participant.e.s, et surtout compte tenu de la pandémie en cours, les représentant.e.s n’avaient pas d’autre choix que de reporter à l’été prochain.

Les impacts du report des JeuxFC sont nombreux. Nous tenons à remercier tou.te.s les employé.e.s qui ont contribué à la planification de l’événement jusqu’à présent.

Nous travaillerons avec nos partenaires dans les semaines et mois à venir pour confirmer tous les détails logistiques qui seront communiqués, en temps et lieu.

VICTORIA 2020 CANADIAN FRANCOPHONE GAMES POSTPONED TO 2021

Ottawa, March 27^th, 2020 – The Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (French-Canadian Youth Federation – “FJCF“) and the local Organizing Committee (OC) of the 8^th edition of the Canadian Francophone Games (Victoria 2020 CFGames) decided today that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CFGames will not take place in July 2020.

The FJCF and Victoria 2020 OC are working on options to hold the event in 2021. Official dates are to be confirmed later this year. After careful analysis, the best possible option is to postpone the event. Our concern for the health and safety of those involved, as well as the participants, is of great importance.

REPORT DES JEUX DE LA FRANCOPHONIE CANADIENNE DE 2020 À VICTORIA

Ottawa, le 27 mars 2020 – La Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF) et le Comité d’organisation (CO) de la 8^e édition des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne de 2020 à Victoria (JeuxFC) annoncent aujourd’hui, qu’en raison de la pandémie de COVID-19, les JeuxFC n’auront pas lieu en juillet 2020.

La FJCF et le CO en sont à trouver des solutions pour tenir l’événement à des dates ultérieures en 2021. Les dates officielles sont à confirmer.

Après l’analyse de plusieurs scénarios et avec la collaboration de tous les précieux partenaires des JeuxFC, nous en venons à la conclusion que, compte tenu des circonstances et dans un souci de santé et de sécurité pour les personnes impliquées dans l’organisation des JeuxFC et des participant.es, la meilleure option qui s’offre à nous en ce moment est de reporter l’événement.

Notice regarding COVID-19 and the Victoria 2020 Canadian Francophone Games

Message from the Organizing Committee of the CFGames

VICTORIA, March 13, 2020 – In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and following announcements by the provincial government regarding gatherings of 250 people or more, the organizing committee of the Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) and its partners from the Fédération jeunesse canadienne française (FJCF) are currently discussing contingency plans for the tenure of the Games. We continue to move forward in our planning of the Games, to be held in Victoria, BC this summer from July 14th to 18th, and any information regarding its postponement or cancellation will be announced to the public as quickly as possible.

We are paying close attention to the news regarding COVID-19 and public health and security is our main concern. We have put in place preventative measures as suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Government of British Columbia and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Canadian francophone Games honoured by the Government of British Columbia for its contribution to the Francophonie

VICTORIA, March 6, 2020 – On BC Francophonie Day, celebrated on March 5th 2020 at the Legislative Assembly in Victoria, the Organizing Committee for the 2020 Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) was honoured by the Government of British Columbia for its contribution to the Francophonie.

La Journée de la francophonie en Colombie-Britannique celebrates French language and the diversity of francophone cultures Marie-Pierre Lavoie, Board Chair of the Organizing Committee for the 2020 Canadian
Francophone Games, received the award from British Columbia’s Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs, the Honorable Adrian Dix.

Oak Bay High, Jack Wallace Track Fundraiser A community project

VICTORIA, January 24, 2020 – The Oak Bay High School Alumni Association and the Organizing Committee for the Canadian Francophone Games (CFGames) seeks to raise funds to resurface the track prior to hosting the Canadian Francophone Games this coming July 14th through 18th, 2020 in Victoria.

A fundraising campaign is now online on the Gofundme platform. Fundraising events will be held in the coming months to reach the $20,000 goal.

Avis de la FJCF face au COVID-19 et les Jeux de la francophonie canadienne 2020

Message du comité organisateur des JeuxFC

VICTORIA, 13 mars 2020 – En réponse aux nouvelles du COVID-19, et suite à l’annonce de l’organisation mondiale de la santé ( OMS) concernant les rassemblements majeurs, le comité organisateur des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne Victoria 2020, avec l’appui de la Fédération jeunesse canadienne-française est actuellement en discussion sur la tenue des JeuxFC, cet été.

Nous continuons la préparation de la 8e édition des Jeux de la francophonie canadienne qui aura lieu du 14 au 18 juillet 2020, à Victoria, Colombie-Britannique, et ce, jusqu’à ce qu’un avis contraire nous forcerait à devoir reporter l’événement. Nous nous engageons alors à en informer le public le plus rapidement possible si cela devait avoir lieu.

Nous suivons de près la situation. La sécurité et la santé de tous sont notre priorité, et par conséquent, nous vous encourageons à suivre les mesures de précaution mises en place par l’organisation mondiale de la santé, le gouvernement de la Colombie-Britannique et Santé Canada.
