A Successful First Day at the 2014 Canadian Francophone Games in Gatineau

Gatineau, Thursday July 24th – The first day of the Canadian Francophone Games in Gatineau was a great success. Sponsored by TVA and the Metro Plus Marché Kelly, the opening ceremony which took place last night at the Place de la Cité marked the official launch of the five days of “French” celebrations. The young participants proudly displayed their colors during the delegations’ parade. The atmosphere was up and all artists brilliantly highlighted the Francophonie!

It is under sunny skies that our participants begin this second day. Competitions get under way for some disciplines and continue for others. The percussionist Mélissa Lavergne will host at 2:30 pm the great cooperative activity presented by Reno Depot at the Place de la Cité. This activity will be open to the public and will bring all the delegations together to create a collective piece.

These games are fully open to the public, so come on out and enjoy them until Sunday. The competitions’ schedule is available at jeuxfc.ca under the “Activités” tab. Also, the CBC Games Village will be alive until July 26th, from 10 am to 9 pm and from 8 am to 5 pm on July 27th. We’ll be offering activities for everyone, so don’t hesitate to come out for a walk in the Village!

On Friday night, don’t miss the national NRJ street dancing competition, presented by Scotties. Starting at 8:15 pm at the Robert Guertin Arena, come attend a high level clash of professional dancers. For one special evening, these dancers, most of whom have participated in many competitions around the world and shot famous music videos, take you to the set of the greatest dance movies! The evening will be hosted by great VG video girl, a world renowned artist and Gatineau native. Tickets are available at ovation.qc.ca or by phone at 819-243-8000 and cost $9.50 for adults and $6.50 for teens aged 13 to 17 (taxes and service fees are extra), while children aged 12 and under get in for free.

We’re expecting to see many of you in the stands!
